Description

Delicious and chewy oatmeal bars with a rich browned butter flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine browned butter and brown sugar. Beat until smooth.
  4. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Stir in rolled oats.
  8. Press mixture evenly into prepared baking pan.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
