Description

Easy Caramel Chocolate Poke Cake inspired by Twix candy bars. A moist chocolate cake with caramel and chocolate topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients called for on cake mix box (usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 (11.5 ounce) bag milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Twix candy bars, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare chocolate cake according to box directions in a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. Let cake cool for 15 minutes. Poke holes all over the cake with a fork or wooden spoon handle.
  3. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes.
  4. Drizzle caramel sauce over the cake.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine milk chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  6. Pour chocolate ganache over the cake.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped Twix candy bars before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips for the ganache.
  • You can substitute store-bought caramel sauce with homemade caramel.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
