Description

Classic green bean casserole with a cheesy cheddar twist. A comforting and flavorful side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Steam or boil green beans until tender-crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Drain well.
  3. In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, pepper, 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, and green beans.
  4. Pour mixture into a casserole dish.
  5. Top with remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 2/3 cup French fried onions.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is melted.
  7. Sprinkle remaining 2/3 cup French fried onions over the top and bake for another 5 minutes, or until onions are golden brown.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Use different types of cheese for a unique taste.
