Description

A hearty and flavorful ground turkey chili featuring black beans.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown ground turkey in a large pot over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Stir in black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of chili powder to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra heat.
  • Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or avocado.
