Description

Hearty and flavorful chili featuring smoky beef, black beans, and a blend of spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, black beans, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the spiciness.
  • For a thicker chili, simmer uncovered for the last 15-20 minutes.
  • Chili can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
