Description

Make simple vegan flax waffles with only 1 ingredient.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (104 g) flaxseed meal
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (250 mL) water

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle maker to MEDIUM heat.
  2. Grind the flaxseed into a light, fluffy flour.
  3. In a bowl, whisk the flaxseed meal and optional salt. Whisk in the water until smooth.
  4. Let batter stand for 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. Open heated waffle maker and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  6. Spoon batter on the plates of the waffle maker.
  7. Use a spoon to spread the batter evenly over the plates.
  8. Close the lid and cook the waffles for 14 to 16 minutes.
  9. Open the waffle maker and remove the waffles. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store cooled waffles in an airtight container for 1 day at room temperature, 5 days in the refrigerator, or 3 months in the freezer.
  • Use fresh flaxseed meal.
  • Do not add sugar or sweeteners to the recipe.
